It gives voice to several vague thoughts I've had about just how annoying this swelling blogebrity Ubuntu love-fest really is. Right on!

Re: The “Flavor of the Week” Switch

I agree wholeheartedly!

The only application that I found Linux to be great for is a secure and stable personal internet server. But that advantage is being obviated by network-attached storage (NAS) devices and free online places that host websites for you. In fact, many NAS devices run an embedded Linux, which is also a great Linux solution.

There are critical things happening in the world and on the Internet today. Your average person wants fast Internet access on a working multimedia computer. Nobody has time or patience to mess around with drivers and hardware anymore like they did in the last decade.

Re: The “Flavor of the Week” Switch

Thank you for saying that. Everyone was jumping on the Ubuntu bandwagon but I don't see how it provided solutions to their original problems. Linux is great. Over the years I've run several flavors of Linux with varying degrees of success. Every time I ran it I eventually gave up because I spent more time trying to configure the OS properly than I did getting any work done, thus I'm back to Windows and OS X.
