I did take a moment and look at this "art". I will say that the pictures are beautiful EXCEPT the expressions of pain & hurt. I have a three year old, and I would NEVER PURPOSEFULLY make her sad or upset. That is torture, and is inexcusible. However, if she had just taken nice happy pictures of children, they would have been gorgeous! She could've put a positive spin on it like how our children should have a positive outlook on life. This wouldn't have been controversial, shocking, and therefore wouldn't have brought in so much money. I think it's terrible she used these children's expressions of pain for making herself more famous and wealthier. Use your talents for good next time PLEASE. You take awesome pictures.

No, it's not OK to intentionally make a child cry or feel terror or anxiety. It's called abuse. It's prosecutable. As for photographing the abuse and then calling it art and selling it or buying it, that's called being an accomplice.

How about making some helpless disabled or elderly people cry and writhe in agony, and then photographing it as art and selling it?

Jill Greenberg and the gallery owner both have serious, serious issues. (Read "The Drama of the Gifted Child" by Alice Miller.) They appear to have become blinded to pain.

No, Paul. You're the irresponsible one for allowing a show that has as its focus children who were emotionally toyed with until they cried. Whether or not Thomas uses his real name is irrelevant. Shifting the focus of the post onto him for that only shows how indefensible YOUR actions are.

Hawk is one pathetic person. He has taken my emailed comments out of context. Anything he says/writes/posts is as dishonest as his refusal to use his own name on his site. That people take him seriously is beyond my comprehension. That people post his comments is irresponsible.
